The BEN Story
How BEN Started
The Building Engineer Network of Texas was founded after recognizing a gap within the commercial facilities industry. While numerous organizations served property managers, owners, vendors and general networking, very few existed for the sole purpose of investing in commercial building engineers.
Building engineers are responsible for keeping hospitals, office towers, schools, stadiums, industrial facilities and countless other properties operating safely and efficiently. Their work often goes unnoticed, yet the success of every facility depends upon their dedication and expertise
A Different Approach
BEN was created with a simple conviction: engineers deserve a professional community built specifically for them. From the beginning, the organization has intentionally placed engineers at the center of every decision. Industry Partners are welcomed not simply as sponsors, but as trusted resources committed to serving the engineering community through long-term relationships.
Looking Forward
Engineers first | Relationships before transactions | Service before self | Quality over quantity
Community over Competition | Build for the next generation
We are not simply building events.
We are building an institution.

Why BEN Exists
Purpose
The following information explains the fundamental reason the Building Engineer Network of Texas exists. It serves as a reminder that BEN was not created simply to host events or establish another professional association. It was created to address a genuine need within the commercial building engineer profession.
Why BEN Exists
Commercial building engineers quietly protect the buildings where Texans work, learn, heal, gather and live. Their work is essential, yet their profession has too often lacked a community devoted exclusively to their growth, recognition and success.
Ben Exists to change that.
We exist to create authentic relationships, encourage professional development, recognize excellence, connect engineers with trusted Industry Partners and strengthen the profession one engineer at a time.
Our Responsibility
The existence of BEN carries with it an important responsibility. Every decision, every partnership, every event and every initiative must answer a single question:
Does this strengthen the commercial building engineer profession?
If the answer is yes, it deserves thoughtful consideration. If the answer is no, it falls outside the purpose for which BEN was established. This simple principle serves as one of the organization’s most important decision-making filters and helps preserve the mission for future generations.
A Vision Beyond Today
BEN was never intended to be measured by the number of events it hosts, the size of its membership of the recognition it receives. Its true success will be measured by the lives it changes.
I hope building engineers discover careers because of BEN. I hope families are strengthened because opportunities were created through BEN. I hope scholarships open doors for the next generation of leaders. I hope Industry Partners become trusted advisors instead of simply vendors. I hope future leaders emerge because someone invested in them.
Most of all, I hope a day comes wh4en someone who has never met me leads this organization with the same mission , principles and values upon which it was founded.
